Send: Microsofts E-Mail-Messenger vorerst nur in den USA
Schon seit Ende Mai wissen wir: Microsoft arbeitet an einem Mail-basierten Messenger. Heute nun wurde die vor zwei Monaten unter dem Arbeitstitel „Flow“ geleakte Kurznachrichten-App in Apples Software-Kaufhaus eingestellt, lässt sich vorerst aber nur in den USA und in Kanada (bzw. mit entsprechenden iTunes-Länder-Konten) aus dem Netz laden.
Send, ein Projekt aus der Microsoft Garage, ist für den schnellen Austausch von E-Mails optimiert, zeigt diese aber nicht in einer konventionellen Listenansicht, sondern in Chat-ähnlichen Konversationen an.
Die App, die momentan nur auf dem iPhone läuft (Android- und Windows Phone-Versionen sollen später folgen), setzt zum Einsatz einen Office 365-Account und entsprechende E-Mail-Konten voraus; eine Ausweitung auf normale E-Mail-Adressen ist jedoch in Planung.
Send soll sich zum Verschicken schneller E-Mails ohne Betreff-Zeile, ohne Signatur und ohne Ballast genutzt werden. Microsoft führt im Blog-Eintrag zur Veröffentlichung drei Beispiele an:
- Straight to the point: “Let’s chat in 10”
- Super urgent: “Don’t send the presentation yet”
- Simple back-and-forth conversations: “Are you in the Office today?” “No”
Die Anwendung zeigt zudem nur jene E-Mail-Verläufe an, die in Send initiiert wurden. Normale Mails tauchen in der App nicht auf.
